Club Programs

Breeders Award Program: purpose is to encourage members of TFCEC to breed aquarium fish; to recognize these achievements and make a wider range of tropical fish available to it's members. Members after a successful spawn must turn in 6 fry to the club to receive credit, these fish are auctioned at the meeting.

Horticultural Award Program: purpose is to encourage members of TFCEC to propagate aquatic plants; to recognize these achievements and to make a wider range of aquatic plants available to the membership. Plants propagated must be turned in for credit and are auctioned at the meeting.

Aquarist of the Year: the purpose of this award is to recognize club members for their work and contributions to TFCEC.

Monthly Bowl Show: each month there will be two categories; Fish of the Month (FOM) and Any other Variety (AOV). Each month judging takes place and points and ribbons are awarded for 1st through 3rd Place in each category. A People's Choice award is also presented monthly which is voted on by the membership. At the end of the Year plaques or trophies are awarded to the top 3 in each category.

Article Writing Program: the purpose of this program is to encourage members of TFCEC to write articles to be published in the monthly bulletin "Somethings Fishy". Points are awarded for articles in different categories.

Home Show: a yearly Home Show of aquarist's tanks in their own homes. Members visit each others homes, tanks are judged and awards are presented in different categories.

Pond Show: a yearly Pond Show of aquarist's ponds in their yards. Members visit each others homes, ponds are judged and awards are presented in different categories.

Family Picnic: yearly picnic held at Sprague Brook Park, 1st Sunday in August. Great fun for the whole family.

Awards Banquet: held to recognize achievements of the members, awards from all Programs are handed out, along with the Federation of American Aquarium Societies (FAAS) Award for Outstanding Service to the Club.
